It’s been a little over 2 years since we launched our audiobooks program! Back in May 2020, in honour of our 40th anniversary, we started offering our books to readers in a new format. At the time, 12 audiobooks were available and now we have 63 audiobooks available.
At the time when the audiobook program was launched Publisher, Julie Raddysh had the following to say: “We are committed to sharing our authors’ works as widely as possible. To this end, we see ourselves as more than just book publishers. We want to serve as a catalyst for change; sharing ideas, skills, and knowledge with readers around the world. Expanding into audio was the next logical step. What better time than now to provide our audience with instantly downloadable, always available, files.”
A significant number of our audio titles are narrated by the authors, who are global thought leaders and sustainability experts. This personal touch creates a more enriching and personal experience for the listener.
The first two books in the program, Culture Gap: Towards a New World in the Yalakom Valley was written and read by New Society publisher emeritus, Judith Plant. Plant is also the reader of The Aging of Aquarius: Igniting Passion and Purpose as an Elder by Helen Wilkes. In true New Society Publishers’ problem-solving, “let’s get this show on the road” style, the book was recorded in one sitting in a sound tent erected inside the log cabin office.
